Dear sister, I am a born again Christian of United Methodist Church. I have always wanted to preach and When the church told me I give it A serious consideration,I shared my call to preach with one of my Baptidt sisters and below is what I got from her.
Having a certain position does not necessarily make one more or less influential in the lives of others. Also, we (and our church) do not believe in women becoming pastors. I believe spiritually mature women ought to be leading and teaching younger women, as taught in Titus, but they are not to be teaching men. By standing by your man in loving submission, remaining meek and quiet, modest, hospitable, etc., you will speak volumes to those who are watching you, and many ARE watching you. Take the "narrower" path and do what most women are too afraid to do, not seeking position, but standing by your man, John.
"But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence" (I Ti 2:12).
"Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in every thing" (Eph 5:24).
"And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church" (I Cr 14:35).
"Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man" (I Cr 11:9).
Our ladies' conference speaker taught us very much, but mostly by how she supported her husband who is a Pastor. I know UMC believes pastors can be women but I cannot see how that can be reconciled with Scripture. God made women, and our amazing bodies, and loves us just as much as He loves men, but we forget our purpose if we try to be like men or take their God-given positions. We are the crown of our husbands, and ought to humble ourselves to God's order for things. Be an example to the women in your church that they too should support their husbands, even if it means suffering persecution so that our husbands will be convicted if they are sinning. It is our reasonable service. John is your Pastor and your husband, your head. Remain under him and see why God planned for marriage to be this way - you will not be disappointed.
Anne, I believe you are making a mistake if you are aspiring to be a Pastor. Be content with what you have and true to the Word. I will be praying for you and the family. God bless you all.

Please advice me,
Anne

Hi Pat, I'm Gerri and Ernestene's younger sister. I'm in awe of your brave and savy info. God Bless you and your work.....More on that later. For now, we are anxiously looking for some history of the Baptist Missionary Tabernacle. Which is now called, Western Ave Baptist church. They have a new building and the open house is March 25th. We sisters want to go and would like to have history of its beginnings. Wondering how to get that from Stan or brother Bob..IF you can help, we would be so grateful. Mother just died on Feb.12th at 94yrs old. All of us are living in Newhall..I'm the ONE intested in the thoughts of your "women preaching" ideas..I heard a woman preacher when I was about 10-11yrs old, at the Assembly of God church in Calipatria, and I wanted to grow up and be just like her.oh how sad, that did not happen.PLEASE let me hear from you soon. Phyllis Jean Janes, Simmons, Meisner (Divorced after 23 years and then Widowed after 13..) Like I said, to bad I didn't know I could preach. That Life would have saved others as well as my self!!Blessings to U!!
